China, Xing Hua News Agency, 19 October 2000 -- China Channel (www.china-channel.com) announced in Beijing on 9 October that it will cooperate with i-DNS.net and i-EMAIL.net to make the registration of domain names and email addresses in Chinese characters possible by mid-month. This would mean that domain names with .com, .net and .org could now come with Chinese characters in front of them.

Accordingly, China Channel has been empowered the rights to adopt the companies' multilingual i-DNS and i-Email technologies. As both i-DNS and i-Email technologies are based on the Unicode system, which is compatible with RACE, UTF-5, UTF-8 and other decoding systems supported by browsers and DNS worldwide, end-users need not download or install any other software to access the Chinese domain names or email addresses.

As featured, the Chinese email services come with an automatic forwarding function that can forward all email received in the Chinese mailbox to other mailboxes of the user's choice. This product is the world's first to be released by i-EMAIL.net.

Those in the industry suggested that entrepreneurs should register as soon as possible the Chinese domain names associated and relevant to their businesses to avoid the trouble of competing with others for these domain names later.

Xiamen-based China Channel was established in 1996 and is China's largest ICANN accredited registrar.
