Universal-Names Joins i-DNS.net’s Registrar Network
Focus on increasing access via the proliferation of Internationalized Domain Names in Americas markets

USA, Universal Names, Inc, 17 September 2001 -- Universal-Names today announced the immediate availability of fully functional domain names in completely native languages via the i-DNS.net International domain name registry. The initial launch will include Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Russian languages.

Universal-Names was established to address the market demand for universal access to the Internet regardless of a person's native language. Internationalized domain names are ideal for localized Web sites, portals, e-mail, and native language content sites and are an important step towards the true globalization of the Internet.

“It makes so much sense to be able to type a URL, from prefix to suffix, entirely in the language of your choice,” said David Seften, VP of Business Development. “Such an innovation has proven a valuable communications tool to non-English Internet users worldwide looking for intuitive web surfing experiences.”

“Universal-Names is proud to partner with i-DNS.net, to help bridge the digital divide inadvertently caused by an ASCII-only Internet.”

i-DNS.net is the provider of Internationalized Domain Name System, (i-DNS) - technology that enables international domain names to be used on the existing Internet infrastructure. Together with local in-country partners, i-DNS.net has launched internationalized domain name registration services across the face of the globe in more than 30 languages and has partnered with leading domain name providers worldwide.

“i-DNS.net is pleased to add Universal-Names to our network of regional registrars,” said Michael Ng, CEO of i-DNS.net. “We look forward to their success in increasing the adoption and utilization of internationalized domain names.”
