eNIC Corporation Offers Domains in Additional Languages
eNIC Extends Lead in Multilingual Domain Name Registrations

Online, yahoo.com, 28 August 2000 -- eNIC Corporation, the worldwide Registry for the Dot-cc Top Level Domain, announced today that it has added an additional 20 Latin based languages to its multi-lingual domain capabilities. Last week, eNIC became the first domain name registry to offer domains in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

Today, eNIC extended its offering to include German, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. It also added other notable European languages, including Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Icelandic, Irish, Scottish, and Gaelic, along with less common character sets such as Basque, Albanian, Afrikaans, Catalan, Faroese, Rhaeto-Romanic, and Swahili. By the end of the year 2000, eNIC plans to add Arabic, Thai, Tamil and other languages which coincide with its rapidly expanding international marketing efforts.

"Our goal is to provide everyone in the world an opportunity to be able to register their domain names in their native language," says Brian Cartmell Chairman and CEO of eNIC. "With today's announcement, this is now possible for the majority of the world's population."

eNIC is able to offer this solution because of its partnership with i-DNS, a Silicon Valley-based company that developed the multi-lingual technology. The technology, which is fully compatible with commonly used Internet browsers and with the current Domain Name System (DNS), currently supports more than 55 languages and their respective multiple encodings.

"Being first with technological breakthroughs such as multi-lingual domains is one reason why eNIC's domain registration numbers keep rising dramatically," says Jothan Frakes, Chief Technology Officer for eNIC. "Dot-cc has truly become the 'Universal Domain Name'. This is just one of a series of technical innovations that we plan to introduce in the coming weeks."
