i-DNS.net International Launches Japan Domain Name Corporation

Online, yahoo.com, 25 January 2001 -- PRNewswire Asia-AsiaNet -i-DNS.net International (http://www.i-dns.net), the world's leading multilingual Internet solutions provider, today announced the appointment of Katsumi Ishihara, former Director of Sales for Compaq (Japan), as its Vice-President and General Manager, Japan Operations.

In his current role, Ishihara will head the newly incorporated Japan Domain Name Corporation and oversee i-DNS.net's in-country strategy. Working with the company's senior management, his immediate responsibility would be to strengthen market adoption of i-DNS.net's offerings.

"I am very excited by i-DNS.net's unique potential in the Japanese market. The industry has been quick to recognize its relationship with VeriSign Global Registry Services and the value-proposition of Nihongo domain names," said Mr. Katsumi Ishihara. "Non-native English speakers can now enter the Internet on their own terms, without having to go through the tedious process of memorizing ASCII characters that are meaningless to them."

In his previous position, Ishihara was responsible for marketing, sales and partnership strategies for Compaq (Japan) since its incorporation in 1992. He consistently outperformed annual targets and was directly responsible for bringing in some US$800 million in revenue for the company by 1998.

"Ishihara-san is undeniably the best candidate for consolidating our Japan operations. His strong background in strategic sales management, honed with his long tenure in the IT-related sales and marketing industry, will definitely stand him in good stead for his new responsibilities here with us," said Michael Ng, CEO of i-DNS.net.

i-DNS.net has been operating in Japan since October 2000. InterQ Inc., Asia's first ICANN-accredited Registrar, and KY Corporation, one of Japan's leading provider of multimedia-related services, have since adopted i-DNS.net's offerings to provide Nihongo domain name registration services.

About interQ
Since beginning service as an Internet service provider in 1995, interQ Inc. has developed three main services with their non-member program "interQ ORIGINAL", member program "interQ MEMBERS", and corporate program "interQ OFFICE". In 1999, interQ Inc. became the first independent ISP to have publicly traded over-the-counter stock. While becoming the first official registrar in Asia to register domain names with the "onamae.com" service, interQ also concentrated on the potential of email advertising by establishing three advertisement distribution companies: magclick for mail magazines, clickmail for mail between individuals, and FreeML.com for mailing lists. interQ Inc. is developing into a business specializing in providing service for the Internet with the aim of becoming an Internet media group.
