i-DNS.net to Facilitate Open Standard for IDN

India, Free Press Journal (Mumbai Edition), 21 September 2000 -- Mumbai - Leading multilingual domain name technology provider i-DNS.net International (i-DNS.net) affirmed its commitment to facilitate an open standard for Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) technology, which will allow all domain names to be written in local language character sets and scripts.

Backed by the US-based General Atlantic Partners LLC, i-DNS.net has developed a flexible Unicode-based technology that supports row-based ASCII Compatible Encoding (RACE), UTF-5, UTF-8 and all common local encoding. The Internationalized Domain Name System (i-DNS) is fully compatible with commonly used Internet browsers and interoperable with the current Domain Name System (DNS).
