Lycos Asia Offers Add-on Services to Increase Revenue and to Meet Users’ Needs

Hong Kong, HK-Lycos, 22 June 2001 -- Ms Mary Ong, Chief Executive Officer of Lycos Asia, said that currently all avenues are being examined with the aim of securing an increase of revenue. Although no plan has been concretized as yet, she is quick to maintain that the company’s priority still lies in meeting the needs of its users. A few months back, the company’s China portal offered users the option of web space increment for a fee. However due to market differences in each country, the company has so far no intention of extending such services beyond China. The majordomo for Lycos Asia, Mr Liang Guangyi, emphasized that the site’s main source of income still comes from advertisers. Ms Ong also pointed out that since the company’s acquisition of MyRice.com in March, the company has been showing good progress in integration.

Working With i-EMAIL.net

Besides, Lycos Asia has announced a partnership with multilingual email solutions provider, i-EMAIL.net, to launch multilingual email addressing services to its users. Once a user registers himself with Lycos Asia, he will gain usage of a multilingual email address and other communication tools. However, the registered user would still need to log on using an English user ID. The service is free of charge for the first year, and will possibly be marketed, packaged with other services, consecutively. No formal arrangements has been announced as to date.
