dotTV now handles multilingual domain name registrations

Hong Kong, Hi-TechWeekly, 30 October 2000 -- dotTV, the registry for the newest TLD ".tv", has announced that its Asian headquarters in Hong Kong would be accepting reservations for multilingual domain names suffixed with .tv in traditional and simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. The registration service will be officially launched in a few weeks time once installation is complete.

The multilingual domain name system adopted by dotTV is supplied by Singapore-based technology provider i-DNS.net International. ".tv" is ranked second to ".com" in terms of popularity. Those registered with dotTV include TVB Online, Zee TV, NBG4(KNBC), Columbia TriStar Films and the Emmy Awards etc.

Interested registrants can visit http://www.tv/ to register for a domain name at US$50 per annum. Phrases and special terms, for example alphabets, would demand a higher registration fee. DotTV has planned to provide, through a series of strategic partnerships, a comprehensive service application package to help .tv registrants construct an attractive website with links to the .tv search engine.
