China Channel Launches Registration Services for Chinese Domain Names and Chinese Email Addresses - Use Chinese Domain Names, Write Chinese Email Addresses

China, Super Shopping Guide, 11 October 2000 -- China Channel (www.china-channel.com) announced in Beijing on 26 September that an agreement has been reached with i-DNS.net and i-EMAIL.net to empower China Channel the rights to adopt their multilingual i-DNS and i-Email technologies; thereby making the registration of .com, .net and .org TLDs and email addresses in Chinese characters possible. This has made China Channel the first premier ICANN accredited registrar to be able to do so.

As both i-DNS and i-Email technologies are based on the Unicode system, which is compatible with RACE, UTF-5, UTF-8 and other decoding systems supported by browsers and DNS worldwide, end-users need not download or install any other software to access the Chinese domain names or email addresses. The Chinese email addresses come with an automatic forwarding function that can forward all email received in the Chinese mailbox to other mailboxes chosen by the user. This product is the world's first to be released by i-EMAIL.net.

Director for China Channel Mr Gong Shaohui said, "China Channel is dedicated to the promotion of China's e-Commerce industry and now cooperates with i-DNS.net International and i-EMAIL.net to provide services for the registration of Chinese domain names and email addresses. The advent of Chinese TLD names and addresses will eliminate the language barrier of the Internet to non-English speakers, and will revolutionalize the operations of small and medium sized companies and the propagation of emailing in China."

Headquartered in Xiamen, China Channel was established in 1996 to provide network solutions for e-trade and the first in China to be an ICANN accredited registrar. It is now the largest provider for China's e-commerce platform, and also China's largest special domain name registry.

Reportedly, the Chinese registrar will start handling global registrations for Chinese TLD names and email addresses from today onwards, and the registered names and addresses will be operationally functional recently.
