China Channel Launches Registration Services for Chinese Domain Names Suffixed with .com - Chinese domain names and Chinese Email Addresses Becomes Trendy

Online, www.asuslife.com, 27 September 2000 -- China's reputed e-Commerce service provider China Channel has announced a strategic alliance with i-DNS.net and i-EMAIL.net to pioneer registration services for Chinese domain names like .com and Chinese-addressed email services.

The offering of Chinese domain name registration services is made possible through i-DNS.net's two-year i-DNS technology research with Asia Pacific Networking Group (APNG) and the National University of Singapore (NUS). The Chinese-addressed emailing service is part of the research for Internationalized Domain Name System technology and can support addresses like .com.

The advent of Chinese domain names and the Chinese-addressed emailing service will totally eliminate the language barrier faced by Chinese-speaking users and make the Internet a more conducive environment for China's enterprises to create a more ideal e-Commerce platform to cater to the Chinese clientele.

The Chinese domain name, as compared to an English one, is much easier to remember and more meaningful for the average Chinese user; and is like the trademark, or brand name, of a company that is representative of its corporate image invaluable in terms of publicity purposes.

Domain names are scarce resources: many companies now face the unfortunate situation of having to resort to using less related domain names or to spend large amounts of money to recover their corporate names from those who have registered these names prior. To own a special Chinese domain name is to have the key to open up the gates to the Chinese e-market.

Since becoming the first registrar late 1999, China Channel has begun breaking into the westerners' monopoly over China's domain name market. Through continual technological betterment, China Channel has been steadily attracting English domain name registrants; the current figure reached is 100,000 so far. In its operations, the company discovered that many enterprises face inconveniences in using the domain names and emailing services due to their unfamiliarity with the English language. In response, China Channel has decided to launch its registration services for Chinese domain names like .com and Chinese-addressed email services.

Reportedly, i-DNS.net has a multilingual domain name database archiving popular domains like .com, .net and .org. Its i-DNS technology can support more than fifty languages including Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai; and is fully compatible with any servers, email systems, emailing applications and Internet Protocol.

These two technologies are a breakthrough for the Internet world as it resolves the language barriers by allowing non-English speaking users to access the net in a language they are comfortable with. This is believed to be the next step of Internet evolution and would truly create a global Internet.
